The state of travel in 2022
As almost every Covid restriction is lifted, both at home and on holiday, we look back at what happened to international travel over the last two years.
For updates on the situation in Ukraine and its impact on travel, see our dedicated Ukraine page
What travel rules are still in place?
Assuming you're fully-vaccinated, you need to complete a Passenger Locator Form to come back to the UK. We expect that to be removed in time for the Easter school holidays in Easter, meaning travel - at least back to the UK - will finally be as easy as it was before the pandemic in 2019.
What travel rules have been scrapped?
All the other ones! Remember traffic lights? Gone. The red list and airport hotel quarantine? Also gone. See our graphic below for a timeline of every travel rule we've seen come and go over the course of the last two years, from pre-departure PCR tests to it being illegal to leave your house to drive to the airport.

Remember the first green list...
Here's our old roundup of the only 13 countries you could fly to back in June 2021.
What about the rules overseas?
Almost every major holiday destination has reopened now. Some are only open to vaccinated travellers, and some require tests, but assuming you've had your jabs you can go almost anywhere you could before.
