Book the Hilton Birmingham Metropole
Treat yourself to a stay at the luxurious Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel, located just a 5-minute drive away from the airport. The hotel boasts 4-star facilities including modern and spacious rooms, equipped with everything you need for a comfy stay, a choice of 3 restaurants and an on-site spa and health club - perfect if you fancy a pre-flight pamper.
The hotel looks a bit scruffy with a hole in the ceiling in reception. Good room and comfortable beds. Restaurant food was poor and service slow. Taxi to airport didn't arrive despite booking at reception. Taxi fare was £15 to the airport terminal. Very helpful and friendly reception staff who couldn't do enough to help. The hotel was 84% empty. The pool and sauna were brilliant and a real treat.

Restaurants
Brightsmith on the Water – 5pm to midnight
Inspired by the artisan crafters of Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter, attention to detail goes into everything. Shimmering glass pendants light up the art deco interiors, while the elevated menu champions local produce and cuisine. Head out to the heated outdoor terrace and enjoy lakeside views, or marvel at the mixologists creating something unique.
The menu is super varied, with mains ranging from steak and burgers to buttered chicken masala and pan-fried sea bass. They cost £24 on average. For an opulent feast, start with calamari, twice-baked gruyère cheese soufflé or even seared wood pigeon breast, then finish with a panna cotta, Swiss dark chocolate tart or a classic cheeseboard.
Gild Lobby Bar & Lounge – Lunch 11am to 3pm. Dinner 3pm to 11pm
The bright, open-plan Gild Lobby Bar & Lounge offers a more relaxed dining experience. But with green velvet booths, a glitzy bar and abstract, expressionist artwork, the Gild feels no less classy than Brightsmith.
Enjoy light bites like nachos, burgers and salads to enjoy with a cocktail or pint. A meal here costs around £20. Or, just relax in a cosy corner with an artisan coffee.
All restaurants have gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan options – just ask a member of staff.
Bars
Brightsmith on the Water – 5pm to midnight
The cocktails here are seriously impressive. Order the B40 and you'll be presented with a chest with dry ice streaming out and a passionfruit-topped tropical delight. Or go for the Penicillin, a medicinal number with an equally showstopping stream of dry ice flowing over it. Whatever you order, make sure to have your camera ready.
Cocktails not your thing? Sample local craft ales and lagers from Silhill Brewery, work your way through the wine list or choose from the expertly curated spirits and soft drinks. Take your drink out to the terrace or nab a prime seat at the bar.
Gild Lobby Bar & Lounge – 24 hours a day
Classic and even frozen cocktails are on the menu at the Gild Lobby Bar & Lounge. The Guinness is perfectly poured, the bar is well stocked with all your favourite tipples, and the contemporary setting is warm and welcoming.
Breakfast
The Arbor – 6.30am to 10am on weekdays, 7am to 11am on weekends and bank holidays
Breakfast is a full English and continental buffet enjoyed in the light and airy Arbor restaurant. Inspired by the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, the Arbor's botanical breakfast parlour aims to create a sense of the outdoors coming in.
Pile up your plate with sausages, back or streaky bacon, and three kinds of eggs. Or spread on some honeycomb to sweeten up your waffles – this isn't your average hotel buffet.
Breakfast is £18 per person when booked at the hotel. Or, book in advance with us and it costs £12 per person.
Gild to Go – 6am to 10pm
In a hurry to catch your flight? Gild to Go has you covered with takeaway coffee, sandwiches, pastries and snacks, which you can happily feast on while you head to the terminal.
Things to do
Keep up your fitness routine or unwind at the LivingWell Health Club. There's a well-equipped gym plus a pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room. It's all included for hotel guests, but you'll need to book a time slot in advance. Spa treatments are available too for an extra cost.
Sustainability
Guests can get involved with the Hilton's Conserve to Preserve programme by reusing their towels. Plus the hotel changes your bed linen every three days as standard, saving water and energy.
