Drive the winding country road to the De Salis and it's hard to believe you're only 5 minutes from the airport. Even harder to believe are the floor-to-ceiling murals, stain-glass windows and resident cat that make this arguably the quirkiest hotel we sell. But that's all part of the charm – if you're after a budget-friendly hotel close to the airport, why not try somewhere totally unique?

Getting to the airport
The hotel is a 5-minute drive from the airport.
A shuttle bus runs from the hotel to the airport. It runs from 4am every 30 minutes, takes 5 minutes and costs between £18 and £24. You can book it at reception.
You can also catch the public bus from outside the hotel, which takes 7 minutes to get to the airport. Check the timetable before you travel – the bus isn't 24-hour.

De Salis Restaurant – 6pm to 11.30pm
Tuck into Italian and American favourites at the De Salis Restaurant. Whether you're after pizza, pasta or an American-style burger, comfort food is on the menu in the unique hotel lobby.
Mains cost £14 on average, and there are vegetarian options too. There's also a kids menu, including pizza, chicken nuggets and fish fingers, which cost £8.50.
The bar closes at midnight, and room service is available while the restaurant is open. There's no extra tray charge.
Breakfast

Breakfast is a full English and continental buffet. Pile up your plate with eggs, bacon, sausages, beans and toast, or help yourself to croissants, ham, cheese, cereal and yoghurt. Hot drinks and juice are included too.
Things to do
Love cats? Say hello to the hotel's cat, who you'll usually find snoozing in the lobby or out prowling the hotel grounds.
Kick back in the hotel lobby, or head out and explore. Elsenham is nearby, a small village with some shops and a pub. A little further is Bishop's Stortford where there's a bit more going on.
