Staff and directors of Birmingham airport braved the wet Sunday conditions to participate in a sponsored walk to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
The five mile walk around the grounds of local theme park, Drayton Manor, was the latest fund-raising event from the Birmingham staff and the fourth time that they've raised money for the JDRF.
Juvenile diabetes is a serious and growing problem with 20,000 children affected every year. Diabetes can be life-threatening and there has been a five-fold increase in suffers under five years of age. The money that the Birmingham airport staff helped to raise will make a big difference to a lot of children suffering from Type-1 diabetes.
