I joined Holiday Extras in 1989, and although the company has grown and expanded over this time the culture and opportunities are the same as my first day. I have loved every part of my HX journey which has taken my from our contact centre, a great beginning to gain product knowledge, throughout most teams within HX. In 2006, I joined Simon Hagger in the new business team to help set up our theatre and theme park product range, starting with LEGOLAND before expanding to other theme parks. In 2015 I became Ecommerce & Product Director for Short Breaks, working with our on-line user experience, Project Delivery and analytics teams to deliver an outstanding customer journey for all of our customers.

Life before Holiday Extras

I studied business at South Kent College before starting my career at Holiday Extras. In 1990 I wanted to set myself a challenge so decided to complete a law degree at University of Kent at Canterbury, which I studied part time over six years!!

Life outside of work

I'm married to Gavin and have two fantastic children. Family life is really important, spending free time with them helps me relax and unwind from a busy day at work, however home life is just as busy. My children are enthusiastic swimmers and between training and weekend swimming galas a good slice of spare time is spent running them to various swimming pools throughout the South East.

I love a challenge and after completing the moon walk with a group of friends for two consecutive years, we decided it was time to up the stakes. So this year we will complete the Jurassic Coast Challenge, walking 100k from Poole to Bridport. This means most weekends are spent training and discovering fantastic walks over the South East of Kent. This has really encouraged my love for long distance walking, causing me to start a bucket list of challenges, I just need to encourage my friends to share in this continued passion!

What's your perfect holiday?

Holidays are all about family time, whether it is beach, city or adventure. We have a motorhome and enjoy travelling around Europe discovering and exploring the culture and history of the new locations we find on the way.

Inspiration

I find inspiration from lots of places, those that constantly evolve and adapt to any situation never fail to inspire me. My children hugely inspire me, by constantly displaying the drive and ambition to strive to improve on their personal best swimming performances.
